300 Mini Session Ideas for Photographers
I love doing mini sessions. I pick the location, they are 30 minutes, not a lot of editing, and I can schedule as many as I can fit into my allotted time. But, sometimes I have a hard time coming up with ideas if I want to do a themed mini session.

Mini sessions are a great way to get new photography clients to try out your services that are short and at a lower price than your full photography sessions. It’s the perfect way to give them a preview of who you are and the amazing services you provide.
If you have not had a mini session before, but are wanting to get more information on how to set them up, check out my article How to Have Successful Mini Sessions.
If you are anything like me, I have a hard time coming up with unique mini session ideas that haven’t been used over and over again.
Of course if there is a theme that tends to sell out with your photography clients, then by all means, stick with it!
But there is also nothing wrong with trying out different types of themes. It could possibly take off and become a very sought after mini session!
The closer it gets to summer, the more I am seeing themes like Lemonade Stand, Watermelon, prom and graduation mini sessions.
Here are a few that maybe you haven’t thought of trying out:
Camping
New Home
Sorority
Baking
Taco
Breastfeeding
Baby’s First Haircut
If you are wanting to plan several themed mini sessions throughout the year, you can build up the anticipation with your clients by giving them a preview of what they can be on the lookout for! Send them a list of upcoming mini sessions. You don’t have to have the dates for them figured out, just use Date TBA (to be announced)
No matter what type of unique mini session you choose, please keep in mind if you ever need to obtain permission if you are using private property or if there are any safety concerns that you would need to take into consideration.
Like I said before, I do have a hard time coming up with unique ideas for mini sessions that haven’t already been done before. So I will always refer to my list of 300 Mini Session Ideas that I got from BP4U Photographer Resources. This list is a lifesaver!! Not only have I gotten unique ideas from it, it helped jumpstart my thought process to come up with my own ideas!
Oh and bonus, it comes with sample mini session pricing packages that you can refer to if you are having a hard time figuring out how to price your mini sessions!
