How to Stop Getting Ghosted by Photography Clients
Have you had issues in the past with clients ghosting you, or trying to take advantage of you? We have all had one type or another at some point.

You spend time talking to them about all the details you offer with your services and then you get to the price and they just disappear. Or you continuously get clients that show up late. Maybe you somehow attract the clients that are always looking for a deal?
In a way it's kind of a good thing that you have had these types of clients. They definitely show you what you don’t want to deal with in your business.
So how do you avoid it?
I’m going to show you how to find your ideal client!
Believe it or not, not every single person is going to be who you want to sell to, or provide a service to. I mean, yea, you would think that you should be selling to EVERYONE in the world right!?
Nope.
If your service is going to be successful, it’s going to have to solve a key problem your audience is facing. So, before you go any further, ask yourself this very important question:
What specific problem am I trying to solve?
Obviously for us it is going to be photography services.
The main problem our audience has is they need someone to take photos of them right? And of course we can break that down even further by listing out all the different niche’s of photography there are. Family, children, engagements, weddings, etc. There are people out there that value the service you provide. They can’t take the family photos themselves, so they need to hire someone that does that for them.
Now, this is where most photographers turn to the excuse that this business is oversaturated with photographers. There are so many out there that provide this service that it devalues the industry.
NOT TRUE. Here is why:
We identified the problem we need to solve for our potential clients - photography services.
Next, we need to identify what value we have to offer. THIS is where you stand out from the “saturation”. YOU need to figure out what it is that you can offer that sets you apart from the rest. WHY are you unique? What is it that you do differently than everyone else that offers the same type of service?
Personally for me, I am amazing with kids. Moms and Dads are amazed at how well I can get their attention and capture some amazing moments that they otherwise have never seen with their children before. I am self taught. I never followed anyone around or had a mentor. So I never had a process to model my business after. I just went out there and started. I’m not saying I’ve never failed. I started out having horrible sessions when it came to kids. But the more I shot, the more I practiced with what worked and what didn’t. And the more I realized, kids just want to be kids and once I get the parents to realize that as well, everyone remains calm and I am able to capture some amazing images!
The parents are amazed at my patience, they leave me raving reviews, and talk about me to their friends with kids.
That is my unmatched value that I am able to offer. My unique ability.
Sit down and write out a list of what you are truly good at. DON’T BE MODEST. Really brag about yourself here. Are you great at photoshop or just editing in general? Are you able to offer a unique location that no one else has access to? What is it about you and your business that really stands out?
Next, WHO needs what you offer? And WHERE can you find them?
This is where my Ideal Client Worksheet comes in. This worksheet is meant to make you REALLY think.
You can print this out or just follow along on your computer and jot the answers down on paper. Then, sit back and observe what you have written down. Do you have a better understanding of who your ideal client is? I really hope so because THIS makes all the difference in the quality of clients that come to you for your services. It truly does stop the no shows, and the ones that are just looking for a deal.
