50 Spring and Summer Mini Session Ideas

Mini sessions are so popular because they are typically only 15-25 minutes each session, they are low cost for the client, and a great way to break up the typical family or children photography sessions that photographers always do by having a themed mini session.

How much should I charge for a themed photography mini session?

Of course a lot of that depends on everything that goes into creating that mini session.

Where is it located and will you be using a lot of gas to get there and back home? What kind of props are included in the mini session, as well as how many sessions will you be having? What is your budget for marketing these mini sessions?

These are a couple of things to think about when planning. Themed photography mini sessions can range in price anywhere from $50 - $250. It is also best to do a little research on photographers in your area to compare what they are charging.

What is included in a mini session?

Again that is also something you would want to research around your area to see what others are offering. Find out how you can make your sessions better than your competition. Typically photographers will offer around 5 digital images included, but also offer more to purchase.

Should I have a contract even if my mini session is free because I am just starting out?

YES. 150% YES. You should never operate a photography business without a contract. Even if you are just starting out and not charging much or at all. A contract is a great way to reiterate what your expectations are for your client as well as a great way to clearly state to your client what they are getting in return. Even with free sessions.
